Daniel Miller, Edwyn Collins to be recognised...

Daniel Miller, Edwyn Collins and more are to be recognised at this year's AIM Independent Music Awards.
Independent music has long been full of mavericks, of misfits, people who don't quite fit into the accepted notion of music as a career. Returning this year, the AIM Independent Music Awards are set to champion some of the vital figures in British music.
Taking place at The Brewery in Clerkenwell on October 29th, the ceremony will cover all areas of independent music. The winners will be announced on the night, although two special awards have already been unveiled.
Edwyn Collins is set to receive the Outstanding Contribution to Music Award, while Mute founder Daniel Miller will receive the prestigious Pioneer Award. Two inspiring forces in British music, both were clearly delighted at seeing their work recognised.
Edywn Collins commented: "How gracious of AIM to consider me, I'm most flattered. Thirty years of rock n' roll independence! It's where I started and I'm there yet. I think it's the future, young people."
For his part, Daniel Miller added: "I am very flattered and honoured to receive this award. It's particularly special to be acknowledged by fellow Independents."
