Tony Allen, Nicolas Jaar to take part

The line up for Africa Express has expanded, with Tony Allen, Nicolas Jaar and more set to take part.

Africa Express has always been a stop off point, a junction where musicians could meet and collaborate. Hosting a series of concerts, the project outlined plans earlier this year for an unusual tour.

Taking the name literally, Africa Express is set to commandeer a train and set off around the country. The initial line up contained a broad mixture of African and Western talent, featuring Damon Albarn, Amadou & Mariam, Charli XCX, Baaba Mall, Noisettes and Jack Steadman from Bombay Bicycle Club.

Now the line up has expanded, and the new additions are just as eclectic. Legendary Afrobeat drummer Tony Allen is set to take part, alongside African-born, German-based singer Nneka.

Carl Barat will hop on board, while The Temper Trap, Rizzle Kicks, Kyla La Grange, Spoek Mathambo, Marques Toliver and more have been confirmed.

In an enticing development, Nicolas Jaar has also signalled his involvement. No further details have been supplied, but the thought of the Chilean born producer working with Tony Allen has raised the temperature of the Clash office.

Here's a trailer for 'Africa Express'.
