American hard rock veterans Aerosmith claim that recent press reports have seen them mis-quoted.
It’s been a tough time to be an Aerosmith fan. On their recent North American tour the band were dogged by internal tension, with singer Steven Tyler allegedly having his own dressing room.
Falling offstage at a show in Dakota, the band were then forced to pull an entire tour in South America to allow Steven Tyler time to recuperate.
Recent interviews have demonstrated the gulf between Aerosmith and their singer. Interviews with guitarists Brad Whitford and Joe Perry have seen rumours of a split escalate, with all not being well in the band’s camp.
However Aerosmith have hit back claiming that they were mis-quoted. Speaking to American radio station WPLR drummer Joey Kramer claimed that his comments on Steven Tyler had been taken “out of context”.
“My partners have been misquoted and their comments have been taken out of context,” he claimed. “I’m not going to make a statement about that on the radio. I’m going to make a statement about it in person.”
Kramer refused to deny that Steven Tyler has left the band. In a recent interview Joe Perry claimed that the singer had not spoken to Aerosmith in months.
However the drummer went on to claim categorically that Aerosmith have not split up. “No, the band didn’t break up,” he said. “We’ve gone through a lot of stuff together. It’s been a 40-year marriage.”
