AC/DC Cancel American Tour Dates

Brian Johnson told to rest

Australian rock giants AC/DC have been forced to postpone a number of North American tour dates after singer Brian Johnson became ill.

AC/DC remain one of the world's biggest rock acts. Founded in Australia by two brothers, the band's close knit approach to hard rockin' has seen them reap huge success.

Losing iconic frontman Bon Scott in 1980 AC/DC bounced back with their album 'Back In Black'. One of the best selling albums of all time it enshrined them in the public gaze as being no nonsense rockers.

Returning this year with their first album in eight years, 'Black Ice' was seen by fans as a return to their roots. Lead single 'Rock N Roll Train' was a gutsy rocker, with singer Brian Johnson wailing over Angus Young's lightning riffs.

Launching an enormous world tour, AC/DC proved that they can still cut it with band's almost a third of their age. Angus Young went into training before the tour, and his energy simply has to be seen to be believed.

ClashMusic caught the band in action at Hampden Stadium recently. Essentially a homecoming for the Glasgow born Young brothers, AC/DC were on ferocious form climaxing in an epic 'For Those About To Rock (We Salute You)'.

Now it seems that the stresses and strains of a massive world tour have taken their toll on singer Brian Johnson. The frontman was recently hospitalised and has been advised by doctors to stay at home.

As a result, AC/DC have cancelled six shows in the United States beginning with a gig in Phoenix in October 1st. The band will also miss shows in Las Vegas, Louisville, Kansas City, Des Moines and Milwaukee.

AC/DC will resume their Black Ice World tour with a show in Washington, DC on October 16th.
