A Place To Bury Strangers Record Deal
Trio sign to Mute
Celebrated indie group A Place To Bury Strangers have signed a new deal with legendary label Mute.
Formed as an electronic imprint, Mute used the cash cow that was Depeche Mode to release a stream of left field material during the 80s. One of the most respected labels in the UK, Mute is a suitable home for A Place To Bury Strangers.
Hailing from New York, the band's debut album was released through independent label Rocket Girl. Gaining much press support, the band have been labelled the loudest band in their home city.
Citing such seminal groups as the Jesus And Mary Chain as influences, the band's feedback drenched droning sound is unusual in that the band make most of their own gear.
Guitarist/vocalist Oliver Ackermann founded the effects pedal company, Death By Audio, which has provided custom effects equipment to other rock bands such as U2, Wilco, and Lightning Bolt.
In a statement the guitarist said of the new deal that Mute "have put out some of our favourite records over the years. I can't think of a label that better fosters experimentally creative music".
A Place To Bury Strangers' first act as a Mute artist will be to play a new UK tour. Dates are as follows:
March
31 Dublin Whelans
April
1 Glasgow Stereo
2 Manchester Ruby Lounge
3 Leeds Cockpit
5 Birmingham Barfly
6 London Kings College
