One of the most intriguing bands making music today, A Hawk And A Hacksaw have announced details of an upcoming single and album.

Formed by one time Neutral Milk Hotel drummer Jeremy Barnes, the group expanded to two with the addition of violinist Heather Trost. A Hawk And A Hacksaw blend indie rock with Balkan music, becoming cult heroes in the process.

The group's stunning collaboration with The Hun Hangar Ensemble saw the duo come face to face with the Balkan musicians who inspired them. Released in 2007, the group followed this with a sensational tour.

“We had to move to Budapest in order for our tour with Hun Hangár to work,” Jeremy Barnes explains. “Folk music is very strong there, and after living in Budapest for a few months, we became a band, and good friends as well. We’d practice at the trumpeter Ferenc Kovács’ house."

"He lives with his family - his wife, three daughters, and both his mother and his mother-in-law. He also makes Pálinka, a Hungarian fruit brandy, and we have to have a shot before we begin, no matter what time of day it is.”

Forthcoming album 'Deliverance' takes inspiration from a number of different sources, spanning the globe. The record will be trailed by the group's new single ‘Foni Tu Argile’, which is due to be released on April 27th.

Cut into 10 inch vinyl, the single is said to replicate the shellac records of old.

A Hawk And A Hacksaw release their new album 'Deliverance' on May 18th.
