Steam a mix exclusively on ClashMusic
2ManyDJs have spoken to ClashMusic about their new web-based project 'Radio Soulwax'.
One of the most popular turntable partnerships on the planet, 2ManyDJs have reached a stage where they can play to countless thousand fans at a time. Known for producing a certain type of set, it seems that this reputation has sparked a new project.
'Radio Soulwax' is an ambitious mixture of music and visuals. Teaming up with a series of film makers, 2ManyDJs crafted twenty four brand new hour long mixes.
Released one at a time, each mix focusses on a different theme. Speaking to ClashMusic, David Dewaele explained that the music varies stylistically.
"They are all different ones. One is hardcore punk and it is just the most mental thing you can witness. Another one is more like beautiful ballads, another one is weird, electronic music. They’re all different ones."
The latest mix the series is titled 'Celestial Voyage'. "This is a space themed one" he explained. "All the records in this mix are what I like to call UFO disco – they are all mid 70s to early 80s space disco tracks. Some of them are honestly super rare, some of them are like a guy in his garage pressing up a few copies."
ClashMusic has obtained an exclusive stream of the new mix. 'Celestial Voyage' is themed around a trip through space, with 2ManyDJs teaming the music with some suitably inter-galactic imagery.
"Basically we started out flying through space in a spaceship and the sleeves come towards you and we’ve done this tricky three dimensional thing where we’ve taken these space beasts and you actually fly into them, like a new parallel universe. I personally think it’s really stunning and some of my friends who smoke weed – because I don’t do that – they say that watching it in a darkened room, all by yourself, smoking weed is the biggest trip you can ever have."
