¡Forward, Russia! are set to reform for a one off show in Leeds later this year.
Way back at the beginning of the Noughties, Leeds' music scene was in rude health. A slew of new groups came tumbling out of the city, with labels such as Dance To The Radio helping to push things forward.
At the centre of it all, though, lay ¡Forward, Russia!. Led by Whiskas, the band's demented take on post-punk was shot through with math-rock experimentation, with gigs often collapsing into shards of riffs and pits of sweat.
Going on hiatus in 2008, the band have agreed to get back together for one night only. Former stomping ground the Brudenell Social Club is set to turn 100 with a smile on its face, and the historic venue is set to host a very special birthday party.
¡Forward, Russia! will tread the boards, while the original line up of This Et Al are due to play a support slot.
Tickets are on sale right now from Forwardrussia.com, Jumbo Records, Crash Records, See Tickets, We Got Tickets and The Brudenell.
