Bursting out of London this seven piece ska / rocksteady group blazed a trail across the 80s chart scene scoring more Top 40 single entries than any other group (apart form UB40 who shares the record). From their origins on the legendary Two Tone label, Madness carved out an identity of their own, as day-glo pop merchants. The group - to their continued horror - attracted a far right following, which they found difficult to reconcile with their love of black music.
