2010 dates from newcomers

Acclaimed British newcomers The xx have confirmed a series of UK shows for early next year.

The xx are musical prodigies. Barely out of their teens, the group formed at the same school that spawned Hot Chip, Four Tet and Burial - no bad going!

Practising at night, the group honed a sound that hinted at the dark which surrounded them. With dampened guitars and hushed vocals The xx flirt with the line that separates sleep from daylight.

Early singles such as 'Crystallise' matched indie songcraft with processed beats that suggested a hidden love for R&B. Live, The xx often cover Aaliyah and have even been known to play a old hit by Womack & Womack.

Blending a love of pop with something slightly more sinister, The xx's debut album was released earlier this year to stunning acclaim. The band's self titled effort showcased their songwriting ability, and hinted at greater achievements to come.

Now The xx have confirmed plans to kick start 2010. The band are set to tour the UK, opening with a show in Brighton's Komedia venue on March 1st.

Moving onto a show at Shepherd's Bush Empire in London The xx will snake their way around the country before finishing with a gig in Liverpool on March 10th.

The xx have confirmed the following UK tour dates:

1 Brighton Komedia
3 London O2 Shepherds Bush Empire
5 Birmingham O2 Academy 2
6 Manchester Academy 2
8 Leeds Cockpit
9 Edinburgh Studio 24
10 Liverpool The Kazimier
