Wake up screaming with some weird spider/prawn hybrid on my face.
If it had of been yesterday I may have killed it and stuck it on my face but instead I take a picture of it, assuring everyone that this breed is extremely rare and let it back into the cess pit that is outside. Leave 30,000 Leagues Under The Mud to go to the healing field and nearly opt for a full body massage but don’t want to fall asleep as a) won’t wake up and b) I don’t want to put the masseuse through the horrible task of manipulating my dirty body, even though I did manage to get Sedusa to wash my hair for me this morning.
Eat a Steak and haloumi sandwich instead. Miss Ulrich Schnauss and Sebastien Tellier, which I am annoyed about but that doesn’t last for long as I stumble across something that looks a little like Spinal Tap in a see-through caravan/giant jukebox rocking out loads of cover versions, paid for by the crowd that slowly build around them. I put my £1 into the slot, push a couple of buttons and 5 mins later The Prodigy ‘Voodoo People’ is turned from rave classic to some sort of country outfit meets The Darkness. This is what Bestival is about!
"Bestival festival took place at Robin Hill Country Park, Isle of Wight from the 5th to 7th September"
I continue my journey and head into ‘Time For Tease’, a very upmarket afternoon tea stop where maids serve cucumber sandwiches, scones and tea in china cups, at tables covered in Egyptian cotton (maybe not!) whilst a group of burlesque dancers entertain the crowd. Unfortunately you have to pre-book so I make my way back to the press tent, before I am totally stopped in my steps by a beat boxing flute player. Where Rob Da Bank finds these musicians I do not know but his ability to bring together these amazing acts and open up peoples ears to things they may never have dreamt of listening to, astounds me.
An old teenage fave, Roni Size and Reprazent, hit the stage and mid blog I have to head of to dance to ‘Brown Paper Bag’. Argh the memories!!! Back to the blog. Now it’s off to catch Midnight Juggernaughts at The Big Top, Underworld on The Main Stage and Laurent Garnier and Rob Da Bank end his festival. Who knows if I’ll make it to any of them but armed with a litre of red wine, I shall do my best! Here’s to another amazing Bestival. Bring on 2009!
