Rubbish Debut Singles

Hopefully folk will have read this: http://www.clashmusic.com/feature/inauspicious-beginnings...

A good article on great bands with terrible beginnings. I'd agree with most of them (not the Smiths - Hand In Glove is awesome). Some contenders:

The Beatles - Love Me Do (rubbish and a total rip off)
The Rolling Stones - Come On (held them back for nearly a year)
Joy Division - Ideal For Living EP (Nazi chic, chugging guitars - a million miles away from Closer)

Any other suggestions??

There were a couple of things in that article where the point seemed to be that the songs weren't actually bad, just the artist improved. So I agreed with most of them, but I don't think The Smiths or White Stripes should be in there. Also, I personally really like Let's Shake Hands (but then I like pretty much everything Jack White has ever done, except Coke adverts).

As for Love Me Do, I can't think of that song without thinking of the Beastles version (Beatles mashed up with Beastie Boys):
Beatles: Love, love me do
Beasties: Hey!
Beatles: You know I love you
Beasties: Hey!
Beatles: I'll always be true
Beasties: Hey Ladies!
Beatles: Love me do!

Awesome.

I liked Sound of the Underground. The Dick Dale guitars still sound smart. I think it very much holds up against their later work. It's no Love Machine mind...

It is unfortunate that The Beatles broke up in 1970. I think this group is the greatest in the history of rock'n'roll and a lot of wonderful songs we could hear, if its members did not want to take up solo career. I especially like the theme of love in their works, so the album The Beatles Love in format-mp3 is a part of my music collection.
