PEACE AND LOVE FESTIVAL

Wikepedia say: Peace & Love is one of the biggest festivals in Sweden and the only one with an outspoken message of Solidarity, Diversity and Understanding, which runs through the whole event. It started in 1999 and is located in Borlänge, Sweden.

The Concept is to spread the message of Diversity, Solidarity and understanding, about crossing borders and bringing differing cultures from near and afar together, trying to get people to change their attitudes towards themselves and others.

This year Deptford - home to the Music Tourist Board, founded on such ethics, is sending a delegation before the community based independence day revolution of the Today Deptford mini fest on 3rd and 4th July.

Peace & Love is one of Scandinavia's fastest-growing festivals. In 2006 there were 15,000 visitors per day, with over 37,000 people attending in total. The 10th Peace & Love festival was in 2008 and had a record of 25000 visitors, which made them the second biggest festival in Sweden. A few weeks before this year's event, they had sold 40,000 tickets...

Past years' themes starring artists including Patti Smith, New York Dolls, Ed Harcourt, Hanoi Rocks, Motörhead, Sugarplum Fairy, The Cardigans, Mando Diao, The Hives, Sex Pistols, W.A.S.P., In Flames and more;

And on that wavelength, straight outta Creekside, Deptford, Officer Kicks play the Rock n Roll Heaven stage this year. Most appropriate for a band making their name on the reputation of their passionate live set.
