Best Film Soundtrack

Anyone got any particular favourites? And I think we should exclude performance films (Last Waltz, Woodstock, 1991: THe Year Pukn Broke blah blah blah) I love the soundtrack to Get Carter, always sing it in my head whenever I take the train.....

Also quite like High Fidelity, Trainspotting and whatnot. Plus I recently heard one of those "library" LPs, so I should put 'multiple hammer b-movies' down as well - early 70s vampire flicks filmed in Sussex, but with a rockin' soundtrack!!!

In terms of the relationship

In terms of the relationship between the soundtrack and the film, the Good, Bad, Ugly soundtrack works really well.
In terms of just great music, I like Donnie Darko, Big Lebowski and Garden State.

How disappointing is it to get the Darko soundtrack only to find out that its all classical music?? I wanted Echo and the Bunnymen dammit!

Air's OST to The virgin

Air's OST to The virgin Suicides worked so well with the film. Clint Mansell's OST for Pi, Requiem For A Dream and The Fountain (shite film but the closing credits composition could stop time)

I second Garden State/High Fidelity for sheer great music.

I think the only ones I ever

I think the only ones I ever listen to are:

Judgement Night - Helmet, Faith No More and Slayer collaborate with Cypress Hill, Ice T, De La Soul and the like. As you'd image, it's occasionally brilliant and occasionally rubbish.

Once - the songs from the film. Glen Hansard's solo acoustic tracks are the best.

Trouble Every Day - orchestral misery from The Tindersticks.

The Harder They Come - plenty of Jimmy Cliff and Pressure Drop. Good stuff.

I saw Harder They Come once.

I saw Harder They Come once. I had no idea what was going on, but I liked the music.

Harder They Come - awesome

Harder They Come - awesome film! Some of the least realistic fake blood I've ever seen as well...

Was always quite fond of the pretty in pink soundtrack meself. in fact, a lot of the John Hughes 80's soundtracks are pretty good.

control and 24 hour party people aren't bad either, for obvious reasons.
