Wakestock
Music and Sports Festival
Why should I go?
To spy on the cast of Living On The Edge.
Any interesting titbits of information?
Wakestock is Europe’s largest wakeboarding music festival.
Starting out in 2000 as little more than a wakeboard competition and a street party, Wakestock is now celebrating its tenth birthday and has grown over the decade into the premier destination for wakeboarding fans in Europe. Boosted no doubt by its stunning location on the North Wales coast, it is friendly enough to welcome plenty of punters who have no interest in getting into wetsuits and throwing themselves around in the waves. The daytime wakeboarding competitions and activities are followed by evening music events, usually encompassing indie, electropop and drum and bass. This year Moby headlines, with Chase & Status and the Zutons also announced. Previous years have seen Groove Armada, Audio Bullys, Mark Ronson and Plump DJs grace the Wakestock stages: expect more DJs as the line-up increases, with an emphasis on chart-friendly breaks, d’n’b and guitar pop.
As well as standard camping pitches on site, Wakestock also boasts one of the most comprehensive lists of VIP packages, with Myhab, Tipis, ‘Cowavans’, pre-erected tents and much more available (at quite a snip…). Despite a strict no under-16s policy, the festival draws a young crowd. Go in a big group, pray the weather holds and pose in your boardshorts.
