Soundwave
Legendary promoters Soundcrash and New Bohemia unite for this annual knees up on the shores of a tiny Croatian fishing village. Close to the fortress town of Zadar, Petrcane boasts a beautiful private beach, clear turquoise sea and a host of venues that’s not only the home of Soundwave but other popular Croatian bash, Garden festival.
With an outside amphitheatre, a beach side terrace, countless boat parties and the 600 capacity Barbarella’s Discotheque it has the guise of a package holiday destination but without the sleaze or the cheese. It’s just really damn convenient. Nearly every stage is complimented by the magnificent backdrop in one form or other, Petrcane bay and the Velebit mountains being our particular favourites.
The emphasis here is on audible delights in a distinctly digestible format. There’s no panic rushing about trying to catch acts that are all on at the same time. Soundwave certainly encourages revelry of the beats, electro and dance variety but in a suitably modest fashion. There’s time to chill between artists and enjoy the perks of an Adriatic holiday as well enjoying the music.
But still, Soundwave is looking pretty bloody awesome this year. Epic audio visual sets are scheduled from Ninja Tune darling Hexstatic and the incredible DJ Yoda. Other Ninja delights come from Daedelus, King Cannibal and hotly tipped Micachu and Roots Manuva associate Speech Debelle. We’re also particularly excited about Trojan Sound System and DJ Vadim.
