Mariposa Folk Festival

People say that festivals are a form of escapism from reality. Come to Mariposa folk festival, and it’s actually like a whole new world! The site itself is set in its own village, with a community of artisans. Showing everything from instrument making to rug hooking. Seven stages, a ‘folk play’ zone which is described as a festival within a festival, it’s own pub, AND own shop, selling Mariposa shaped goodies. It’s not wrong to think there is something quite cult like about it. But in the beautiful setting of Lake Couchiching, Ontario provides a friendly family setting. A mix of genres; from folk, blues, gospel, acoustic, and world music it is for the one with an acquired taste but for the atmosphere and tranquil setting it’s worth it.
