Camp Bestival

Hi-de-Hi music fans!

Camp Bestival 2011

Why should I go? If you want to mix great live music with a family break this is the perfect event – excellent acts and plenty to keep the kids entertained.

Any interesting tidbits of information? 2011's fancy dress theme is Medieval. Expect the first aid tent to report record numbers of late night jousting injuries.

The line-up: Primal Scream present their classic album Screamadelica in its entirety. Other acts gracing the stage include: Blondie, Mark Ronson and The Business Intl., Laura Marling, House of Pain, ABC, Katy B, Eliza Doolittle and tons of others.

The Bigger Picture: Created by Radio 1 DJ Rob da Bank, Camp Bestival is an award-winning family-orientated festival which models itself after a 1950s British holiday camp. Running since 2008, it is described as the “younger sister” of Bestival.

Acts who have previously played at the festival include: Chuck Berry, Flaming Lips, Florence and the Machine, Will Young and Madness.

Ticket Price: £170 – although students can get their tickets for £160 with a valid NUS ID.

Accommodation: BYOTent. Although all the plush alternatives to the basic pitch in a field set-up are available for the more conscientious camper.

Site Opening: Campsite opens at midday on Thursday 28th July

Travel: A shuttle bus will run between the site and Wareham railway station.
