Any interesting titbits of information? In 2007, teetotal rock heads Metallica chose Bilbao to premiere a new track, ingeniously titled ‘The Other New Song’. They also performed ‘Master of Puppets’ in its entirety. What a treat.

With such acts as Depeche Mode and Jane’s Addiction gracing this year’s line-up, and previous metal demigods Metallica taking to the stage a few years back, Bilbao BBK Live has carved a name for itself as one of the top European rock fests. But this is far from a muddy mosh pit where your eyes are whipped by greasy manes. Year on year, Bilbao BBK has put together an eclectic line-up. This year, Primal Scream and Placebo are joined by Babyshambles, the Dave Matthews Band, The Ting Tings, Basement Jaxx and Fischerspooner, to name a few of the 13 headliners announced so far.
Placebo fans will be in for a treat as Molko and the gang will be presenting material from their new studio album. A little taste of local flavour comes from Madrid-based Vetusta Morla, one of the biggest breakthrough bands in Spain last year. Previous years have seen headliners such as Guns & Roses, Red Hot Chilli Peppers, REM and The Police.
So it looks like a sweaty combo of leathers and trainers will adorn the three-day festival in the sun and near the sea, which has a capacity of 40,000 at opens at 4pm every day.

Ticket Price: £126 (136 Euros) for a three-day ticket including camping and £51 (55 Euros) for Thursday ticket when Depeche Mode are headlining.

Accommodation: Camping on site.

Site Opening: Campsite opens on 8th July at 4pm. The festival is open daily from 4pm-3am.

Travel:
Two low cost airlines operate direct flights from London to Bilbao. Check Easyjet (from Stansted) and Clickair (from Heathrow). Iberia also operates daily direct flights from Gatwick airport. There are regular buses to Bilbao from the airport and shuttle buses from the city centre to the festival site.
