Premiere: Rodrigo y Gabriela – 9 Dead Alive

A salute to some enduring influences...

Two of the most celebrated guitarists on the planet, Rodrigo y Gabriela remain deeply humble.

During interviews, the duo often appear shy, self-deprecating going to some length to emphasise the role that their influences have played on their career.

Returning to the studio for their first album of original material since 2009's '11:11' the Central American pairing decided to re-visit a few of these musical and philosophical touchstones.

'9 Dead Alive' was produced by Rodrigo y Gabriela at their Ixtapa, Mexico studio and each song represents a celebration of an individual who has inspired the group.

Ranging from Eleanor of Acquitaine (1122 – 1204) to Viktor Frankl (1905 – 1997), the album also contains a salute to more familiar Rodrigo y Gabriela touchstones: animals and nature.

Musically enthralling, '9 Dead Alive' is one of Rodrigo y Gabriela's most absorbing documents to date. Out on April 28th, you can listen to the album first on Clash.

Rodrigo y Gabriela are set to play the following shows:

May
20 London Royal Albert Hall **(SOLD-OUT!)**
21 London Royal Albert Hall
