Good Trip, Bad Trip: Slaves

Punk duo reveal some touring tales...

Slaves smashed their way into the Top Ten earlier this year, with their stripped down punk shout-alongs anthems seeming to strike a chord.

Almost continually on the road, the (Royal) Tunbridge Wells duo have built their success the hard way. Gritty shows, sweaty shows and – eventually – packed shows, Slaves like to get up close and personal with their fans.

Set to play a host of dates this summer, including the Y Not Festival, Slaves stopped moving just long enough to take part in Good Trip, Bad Trip.

Best Trip…
Amsterdam, when we played Paradiso for London Calling.

Worst Trip…
Barcelona, when we lost all of our gear.

My Favourite Foreign Venue…
We played on a boat in Budapest which was full of people, good and great.

We Are Surprisingly Popular In…
We went down quite well in Slovenia, maybe some people like us there now.

Best Or Worst Exotic Food Stuff…
Big swirly potato on a stick which we had in Germany at Rock am Park (Best). Raw joint of ham in Paris – disgusting (Worst).

The Most Interesting Individual I Have Met On The Road…
Big Jeff from Bristol. Say no more.

Worst On Tour Injury…
Isaac slicing his finger open with a kitchen knife. Also, dislodging a bollock doing the worm.

Essential Travel Item…
Iron (Isaac) / Hot Sauce (Laurie).

Essential Travel Tip…
Iron stuff (Isaac) / Put hot sauce on stuff (Laurie).
