"‘Bug’ is Dinosaur Jr.’s testament to a dramatically crumbling friendship. Now, twenty years on, perpetual teenagers J Mascis and Lou Barlow have buried the hatchet in a typically lackadaisical fashion and are back to perform the seminal 1988 album in its entirety. Mascis spends most of the gig static, shadowed by a gigantic speaker crescent like a gladiator hiding in an amphitheatre. Barlow is animated and commanding, playing devil’s advocate to his surly wingman, as his thundering bass slams complement Mascis’s squalling guitar yelps. Rarely credited drummer Murph is reticent yet powerful, the steadying rhythm unifying his wayward counterparts..."
