FAYE: Playlist

Her favourite tracks...

Sometimes it takes a lot of courage to simply be yourself.

In pop terms, the most daring, engaging move an artist can make is turn their own name into a trademark. Swedish singer Faye Hamlin is a case in point: instead of using a lavish alter ego, she simply adopted FAYE as a title for her music.

It's a bold gambit. New single 'Breathe Out' is out now via Best Fit Recordings and – if early hype is anything to go by – FAYE could well be an ice cool pop princess in the making. By way of an introduction, Clash asked the Swedish artist to craft a playlist.

Here's what she came up with…

– – –

1. Scott McKenzie – San Fransisco
It's a feeling of escaping your problems.

2. Miguel – Adorn
K-Ci & JoJo meets The Weeknd. Magic!

3. Solange – Losing You
One of the best singles of 2012 with this beautiful video as well.

4. Kanye West – To The World (ft. R. Kelly)
Like everything with R. Kelly. And this track makes me shout to the sky. Kanye could do better though..

5. Brandy & Monica – The Boy Is Mine
So many beautiful memories from high school.

6. A$AP Rocky – Palace
Hip hop at it's finest right now.

7. Cat Power – Cherokee
A whole new world of girlpower!!!

8. Paul Simon – 50 Ways To Leave Your Lover
This is a classic. Love it and will always do.

9. Satie – 3 Gnossiennes: Lent
Creepy, calm and beautiful.

10. Robag Wruhme – Tulpa Ovi
This makes you feel so good.
