Culture Clash is the little corner of this here little website-cum-magazine-cum-bleedin’-app-thing that we call home where we ask bands – or, usually, individuals from ‘em – about the books, TV shows, films and games (and more) that they can’t be without right now.
It’s all culture, right? And this is Clash. So, there you go.
Today: Panic! At The Disco’s Brendon Urie is in the hot seat, so to speak, chatting about Breaking Bad, the Book Of Mormon, and some film about an alien invasion with those chaps from Spaced in it.
Las Vegas formed power-pop-goes-punk crew Panic’s fourth studio album, ‘Too Weird To Live, Too Rare To Die!’, is released on October 7th (8th stateside). Its lead track, ‘Miss Jackson’, was a hit in July and the band’s subsequent single, ‘This Is Gospel’, came out in August. Check the video to the latter, below.

“Breaking Bad is my favourite show at the moment. It’s so intense. The character-build is great and the twists and reveals of every episode get better and better. If you would have told me about a show where Bryan Cranston plays a high school chemistry teacher-turned-meth dealer, I might have passed on watching it. But, damn, it’s good.”
“My favourite book right now is a toss-up between the Bible and The Book Of Mormon. I haven’t read the Bible in so long, but it’s just so entertaining. And I used to have to read The Book Of Mormon once a year when I was growing up. Now I’m older, and have spent some time away from them, it’s much more fun(ny) to go back and leisurely read what used to be required reading.”
“I’ve been listening to A$AP Rocky’s latest album, ‘LONG.LIVE.A$AP’, so much this year. I love everything about it. The beat production is crazy and unexpected. The lyrics are smart and fun. The overall boldness is just so appealing, and I can listen to it at any time. There’s a song for all of my moods.”

“My wife and I love the zombie feature of Call Of Duty: Black Ops II, but I think I play Portal 2 much more often. It might be my favourite game at the moment. But, at the time of writing Grand Theft Auto V isn’t out yet. So that could change everything for quite a while.”
“The World’s End. I love the Wright/Pegg/Frost films. They’re witty, funny, action-packed, and so original. They inspire me to be just as creative with my songwriting.”
