Clash DJ Mix – The Heatwave

Soca-themed mini-mix...

In its purist, most raw form, Caribbean music can be the most exciting thing you'll ever hear.

Blasting out on a system, a tin of Red Stripe grasped firmly, the bass overwhelming every nerve-ending, every pore, is an experience not to be forgotten. In the right hands, anyway…

The Heatwave are most definitely the right hands. Two London-based selectors with a real bass fetish, Gabriel 'n' Ben have earned their reputation the hard way – going straight to the source.

Respected amongst the Caribbean musical community, the duo are able to bring something of themselves, something real, to the party.

Spending summer on the road, The Heatwave are set to touch base with London this weekend as part of the Notting Hill Carnival. Taking part in the Different Strokes party on Sunday (August 30th) the pair will then re-group for a Monday session with the Hot Wuk crew at a secret location.

Ahead of this, The Heatwave have pieced together a mini-mix focussing on what they reckon is the finest in 2015 soca cuts. An often under-rated form, the creativity amidst soca can often rival its more prominent cousin dancehall, while retaining a distinct flavour all of its own.

Flushed full of summer energy, you can dive in below.
