Clash DJ Mix - Gravious

Newcomer goes in heavy...
Gravious

Newcomer Gravious goes in heavy on the influences for this week’s Clash DJ mix.

Carving out a sound that blends bright dubstep backdrops with glittery electronica, the rising Glasgow producer (Alastair Jackson) has already chalked up tracks on a number of respected labels, including Scuba’s Hotflush, Highpoint Lowlife and, most recently, US label Halocyan, who released Gravious’ ‘Rolling Thunder’ – an especially colourful EP from Jackson that found the producer taking his love of synth-tinkering and giddy beats further out into leftfield.

Gravious’ Clash Mix is a welcome salute to a host of artists who’ve shaped his sound over the years. The tracklist is teeming with classic names from electronica, rave, dubstep, ambient house and D&B, featuring Aphex, Drexciya, Boards of Canada, Burial, Orbital, Goldie, Kode9 and many more innovators.

If you know the artists already, simply take a long, luscious stroll down memory lane. If these are new names to you, you’re in for a right treat.
