Don't look now, but Copenhagen seems to be overflowing with new music.

The Danish capital has already played host to groups such as When Saints Go Machine or Choir Of Young Believers, but the current crop of new bands are beginning to pick up the mantle.

The city's Crunchy Frog imprint seems to sit at the heart of it. Recently gifting the watching world Snake And Jet's Amazing Bullit Band, the label are gearing up for the introduction of Shiny Darkly.

A three piece, the band's name enshrines their light / shade, sweet / sour aesthetic. All sighing harmonies and jagged lyrics, Shiny Darkly sit neatly in the lineage vacated by The Jesus & Mary Chain or even fellow Danish types The Raveonettes.

Here's a quick sample. 'He's Suicidal' - a track title which gets straight to the point - opens up with a circular, spiralling guitar riff which is equal parts C86 and Goth. 'Velocity Girl' once she's discovered her fear of heights, Shiny Darkly sit back and let their amplifiers bleed through the stereo.
