Fever Ray is Karin Dreijer Andersson, previously best known as one half of eclectic Swedish duo The Knife.

Karin is stretching her solo wings with a self-titled album due on March 23; this track, released today, serves as a taste of what to expect.

‘If I Had A Heart’ is an echo of The Knife’s more macabre tones, when their otherworldly feel came draped not in euphoria but dread, menace… sounding for all the world like a beast beamed into one’s living room from a parallel dimension of utmost terror.

Not that ‘If I Had A Heart’ is an ugly song, far from it. It’s gorgeous in its design; but its design is distinctly unsettling, Karin’s tones haunting the listen for some time after the track’s faded.
