Featured in last week’s Singles Round Up, Mike Bones’ ‘What I Have Left’ serves as an excellent curtain-up for his second LP, ‘A Fool For Everyone’.
The song’s understated elegance is something magnificent to behold, its maker’s way with each nuance evidence enough of a superb talent sure to produce further gems this year. But today’s Track of the Day sees the single transformed into an entirely different kettle of fish. Kettle of fish? How peculiar.
Brooklyn avant-dance-rockers Gang Gang Dance are much-admired at Clash HQ – their ‘Saint Dymphna’ LP of 2008 ranked highly in our year-end top albums list – and have reworked ‘What I Have Left’ into a glitch-addled behemoth of a twitchy dancefloor tickler. And we wholeheartedly approve of their methods.
