Track Of The Day 17/11: Liam Finn

Fizzy pop from Australia...

Part one of two – a double-header for a Monday morning.

Liam Finn is the ever-so-talented offspring of Crowded House’s Neil Finn; unlike many children of well-known musicians, he’s carving a niche for his own material without too much mention of his family tree. And rightly so – his idiosyncrasies-laden songs are worthy of investigation without delving into the man’s history.

Taken from his Transgressive-released debut album ‘I’ll Be Lightning’, ‘Better To Be’ is one of Finn’s less-aggressive offerings – see him live and you’ll be amazed by how boisterous his songs become. All fuzz and squelch, it’s a woozy distraction for attention-lacking office drones: a slice of sunshine for a dreary overcast day.
