Ever Evolving Folk Ensemble

The past decade has seen a massive renewal of interest in Acid folk.
Artists such as Bert Jansch, Anne Briggs and Davey Graham were turned from outdated musos into important touchstones. Indebted to this generation, The Memory Band have a similar freewheeling attitude.
Now onto their third album, the band recently shifted line up yet again. Led by Stephen Cracknell, The Memory Band have the same 'try anything once' spirit which fuelled that great 60s era.
On their new album 'On My Days' The Memory Band prove themselves to be much more than adept stylists. Carving out a niche of their own, the collective shift between country blues, jazz and more.
A low key return, The Memory Band even find time to fit in a couple of covers. Adding a sense of history and balance, the new renditions are buoyed by home made electronics which fit into their English eccentricity.
Recently performing the soundtrack to 'The Wicker Man' in a number of live concerts, The Memory Band have an irreverent sensibility which sits them apart from some of their more earnest peers.
Taken from their latest album, 'Ghosts' is - and we make no excuse for saying this - haunting. Lingering long after the track has finished, The Memory Band match a real sense of melancholy with a stirring arrangement.
