Perhaps foremost amongst the new wave of Canadian talent are Arcade Fire. The band's debut album 'Funeral' claimed top spot in our Essential 50 run down, with the Canadians beating off competition from the best music released in our life time.

With that pesky new album still not appearing on the horizon, Richard Reed Parry and Sarah Neufeld have turned their attentions to their ongoing side project Bell Orchestre.

A stunningly ambitious blend of classical music and epic songwriting, the band's recent album 'As Seen Through Windows' was an unexpected delight. Produced by John McEntire it went far beyond the limits of a mere side project.
