New York duo Ratatat have always adopted elements of dance culture.

Initially a straight forward electro rock band, the pair had more in common with Daft Punk than, say, Nirvana. However as time has progressed, Ratatat have adopted more out there influences.

Returning with their fourth album, Ratatat have recruited a full orchestra and borrowed vocal samples from some cult films.

'LP4' manages to move between straight up electro house and Werner Herzog in the space of a few seconds. Ratatat have rarely cut loose like this, even borrowing elements of British bass culture.

New single 'Neckbrace' is a ferocious return from the band. Pulsating electronic beats cut away to biting guitar lines, with the track fast becoming a favourite for DJs on a number of different scenes.

Returning to the UK for a series of tour dates, Ratatat have handed 'Neckbrace' over to dubstep bandit Hyetal. The resulting is a hefty, swaggering mesh of bass which you can grab below...
