Trumpet Calls

Bella Union are renowned for their independence.

The label's signing policy is, simply, if they like 'em then they sign 'em. In a nice twist, Bella Union also extend that same independence to their artists.

Chatting with label boss Simon Raymonde recently, the Bella Union founder was keen to stress the leeway which their bands are afforded. Veronica Falls are the perfect example of that, with the indie pop outfit actually deciding to ditch an entire album's worth of recordings.

Opting to scrap everything and start all over again, Veronica Falls emerged with one of last year's strongest debut albums. Asked to nominate their own favourite Bella Union track, the band name-checked Sleeping States' 'Trumpet Calls'.
