Track of the Day 26/6 - The Rumble Strips - U:Music
A live version of 'Happy Hell'...
Charlie Waller and his Tavistock outfit The Rumble Strips have come a long way from their breakthrough band status in 2004, achieving the rare feat of actually getting incrementally more popular over the last five years.
A new lease of life has come, in part, thanks to the influence of production impresario Mark Ronson. The new album tracks have certainly been tweaked to string-laden perfection for that Ronson-esque big sound; but if you wash away a little of the grease they're all still good songs - as proven by this subdued version of 'Happy Hell', performed live in the Diesel U:Music studio.
This will be the last Track of the Day to come from D:U:M Radio for a little while, so enjoy it. Clash will be taking a break in our station coverage though the station will be rolling on, broadcasting from New York in the near future.
