Hailing from the Surrey Hills, Stagecoach caused a stir last year.

The group's single 'Map To Freezer' was championed exhaustively by Huw Stephens, who gave the band valuable airtime. Stagecoach toured across the country, picking up fans along the way.

This rag-tag band of supporters has now swelled to a modest army, with the band's music featuring in shows like 'Skins' and... 'Gavin & Stacey'?

An unlikely combination, but the group's furious blend of jagged riffs and self-deprecating humour makes them difficult to avoid. Returning to the studio earlier this year, upcoming single 'Jonah Lomu' / 'Tony Hawks' hails two of the band's boyhood heroes.

Recorded with James Kenosha - who also works with Dinosaur Pile Up - the resulting tracks push Stagecoach firmly into ear bleeding territory.

Frontman Luke Harham explains more about the single: “Sitting somewhere between The Replacements and Blur, Jonah Lomu is a song is about the school bully and that feeling of however old you get it seems they are always watching over you. Jonah Lomu seemed like a funny character to represent the bully in the song."

"I have zero interest or knowledge of Rugby but he's just a such a character, almost cartoon like in appearance. On the other hand, Tony Hawk is a song about so many kids from privileged backgrounds automatically go to Uni without really giving a shit. It's about a lack of respect for that opportunity and just getting stoned and playing Tony Hawk on the Playstation all day, "Maybe it's not wrong if he repeats year 1?"

Stagecoach are set to play this weekend's instalment of Dot To Dot. Spread between venues in Nottingham, Bristol and Manchester the three city event has gathered some of the best new music around.

Due to play Dot To Dot, Stagecoach have kindly given us 'Hieroglyphics' to brighten up a windy Tuesday morning!
