Expert Shoegaze Pop

Being 'cool' is a double edged sword.

For every new fan in love with your music are a few scenesters only hanging out because OH MY GOSH IT'S SO DARN COOL.

Dum Dum Girls are cool. So cool, in fact, that the band were capable of making the leap from revered place of indie Slumberland to Seattle powerhouse Sub Pop.

With their debut album making waves across the Atlantic, it seems as if this whole shoegaze revival (renewal?) might just have legs. Sure, it's got the 60s pop mauled by a distortion pedal vibe of the Mary Chain but when it's done with this much panache, this much confidence then resistance is futile.

Out now, Dum Dum Girls are just the latest in a flood of groups from the Slumberland roster to move onto bigger - but perhaps not better - things. ClashMusic has grabbed a free download of early single 'Jail La La' to celebrate.

It re-appears on the album, but not like this...
