These things are easy to mis-interpret.

After all, how often have you found yourself singing along to one of your favourite songs only to realise that you've been getting the words wrong for years?

When songwriting gets personal, it's best to let the artists themselves explain what inspired a certain track. Fast rising Londoner Luke Sital-Singh has been grabbing attention of late, with his acoustic meditations causing ripples amongst music fans.

'I Have Been A Fire' is a guide indication as to why this is happening. By turns gentle and fierce, allusive and nakedly emotional it's an impressive introduction. Stream it above, as Luke Sital-Singh introduces his own track.

Some songs are worked hard for while others are given for free. I have been a
fire was definitely the latter.

I wrote it as my girlfriend and I were hitting one of those infamous 'relationship walls'. I was wrong. she was right. Standard.

I started toying around with a new amp simulator software on my computer and twiddling on my guitar. I just stumbled into verse chords and start wailing my penitent emotions over the top.

I always find it hard to write completely straight love songs. Most people think all my songs are just love songs but most of them have some kind of twist or sinister edge that makes me feel like I'm not just weeping over girls. But 'I Have Been A Fire' has no twist. It's just straight forward, gut wrenching emotion.
