Spitfire (Syntax Remix)

Funny how machinery can take on a life, a character of its own.

Take Apple’s recent output – everything from the iPhone to the iPad has reached iconic status, granted a place in the popular consciousness in a way that few items can. During the Second World War, for example, few pieces of military machinery could reach the status of the Spitfire.

One of the iconic planes flown by the Few during the Battle of Britain, the Spitfire remains an example of how technology can transcend its cold roots to reach the heart. In fact, so effective was its design that Public Service Broadcasting decided to salute the aircraft on their recent EP ‘The War Room’.

Hinging on a spoken word sample, the track chugged alone in a space rock manner that befitted Spiritualized or Death In Vegas. Syntax recently stepped in to remix the track, taking it to the outer regions and back again.
