Lonely Sound

The Bible is a strange old thing.
Full of mythology, biography and philosophy it's often difficult to discern exactly what it means. Take the name Jethro: seemingly, this was Moses' father in law but once again the Old Testament isn't exactly making things easy on us.
A young artist with a Biblical name, Jethro Fox isn't making things easy on us, either. Shuffling down to Liverpool for university, the multi-instrumentalist seemingly threw himself into just about every genre he could.
Absorbing sounds, songs from all corners he eventually struck out on his own. Local whispers soon grew louder, until London based label du jour Tough Love decided that they simply had to have his signature.
Which leads us to 'Blinding Light'. The debut single from Jethro Fox, it spins a curious web of sound. There's a few hints of Spector in there, while the rising harmonies - is he overlaying his own vocals? - are straight from the songbook of Brian Wilson.
It's pure light; white, blinding. Out on Monday (August 20th) the flip is also worth exploring. 'Lonely Sound' is all surging vocals, rushing against the melody and then flipping back, falling behind.
Jethro Fox seems to be in love with sound, with the beautiful tonal qualities he can conjure. We're not entirely sure what 'Lonely Sound' means, per se, but we find it difficult to dislodge from our stereo.
