Dubstep Meets... Disco?

With his glistening productions, slick Motorik beats and spacial dub blasts 2562 sat directly on top of the link between techno and dubstep.
Pushing bass music in new areas, his productions were equally at home on Kompakt as they were on Tectonic. Playing a mixture of venues, 2562 helped to open up dubstep to techno influences as well as taking the form into new arenas.
However recently bass music has turned sharply away from techno. The garage revival, coupled with UK Funky and the future house onslaught has suddenly made producers cut off their techno dreads.
Launching his own imprint, Dave Huismans has re-evaluated his sound. 2562 formed When In Doubt earlier this year, with the first planned release being the limited edition ten inch 'Aquatic Family Affair' b/w 'This Is Hardcore'.
Two pulsating tracks, 2562 had clearly moved away from his techno imprint. The Dutch producer added elements of house and even disco, coming up with two extremely versatile, low slung boogie anthems.
Working on a new album, 'Fever' is the culmination of an about turn in his musical thinking. Out now, 'Fever' is the third album by Huismans and takes the 'disco' label as a launching pad for his own style.
Far from the world of re-edits and Italo re-treads, 2562 turns the synths of Paradise Garage into ice. Check out a sampler courtesy of the Dutch producer below...
