Tom Vek Woahmix

For a decade, Mike Skinner effortlessly straddled the underground and the mainstream, adding a typically melancholic edge to his garage and Grime infused pop. But then he surrendered his throne.

Since then, The Streets lynchpin has been pretty picky about which projects he takes on. However when Man Like Me came erupting out of his stereo, the producer could hardly say no.

A London duo, Man Like Me have a nice line in grimy beats mixed with a pop touch. But this isn't some Tinchy Stryder crossover, oh no - instead, the pair want to tackle the mainstream on their own terms.

Initially set to handle mixing duties on two tracks, Mike Skinner loved what he heard so much he insisted on producing the entire album.

Said LP drops later this year, but to whet your appetite Man Like Me have pencilled in a new single. 'Squeeze' is a fun blast of rave energy matched to a sickly sweet energy, with some bass textures underneath for added trouble.

Out on May 28th, Tom Vek has stepped in to deliver a remix. Placed on the flip, the producer's Woahmix teases out some of the Rave beats to provide something buoyed with a real euphoria.

Retaining the playful touch of the original, Tom Vek seems to add something unashamedly 90s - arms aloft, klaxons blaring and totally fun.
