Plenty of thought goes into choosing a pseudonym.

Take Daedelus. The classic, Greco-Roman roots of the title give his persona a sense of grandeur which is perhaps lacking in his given name: Alfred Darlington. However if you ask us (and you should) Alfred Darlington is, if anything, cooler.

So: Daedelus. Signed to Ninja Tune, the producer has spent the past year stretching his wings. Moving from chopped up hip hop to woozy psychedelia the beatsmith seemed to be overflowing with ideas.

Spread across labels such as All City, Stones Throw and Brainfeeder the producer comes with no small degree of pedigree. Settling down to work on a full length, Daedelus was faced with the problem of making his productions coherent across the long player.

Out now, new album 'Bespoke' is a hugely inventive and above all distinctive document. Daedelus moves between massively varied styles, but his unique sense with sound - of when a beat should drop - comes through.

Chosen to reflect his own personal style, 'Bespoke' is apparently much more than a gimmick. "I not only intended it as a reflection of the LP itself" he explains, "but also an outlook on life".

'Tailor Made' is one of the album's real centrepieces, and has been given a series of inventive remixes. Perhaps the pick of the bunch is TOKiMONSTA's take, pushing Daedelus into new realms.
