Replay's Road Trip to Bestival - Ice Black Birds

Ahead of their Bestival appearance
Replay's Road Trip to Bestival - Ice Black Birds
In the build-up to Replay’s Road Trip to Bestival, we caught up with competition winners Ice Black Birds to see how they’re anticipating performing at the festival curated by Radio 1’s Rob da Bank.

Not only have the band recently played their biggest UK headline show at London’s KOKO, Ice Black Birds also supported We Are Scientists on tour, so these boys are no strangers to hefty audiences.

Lead singer Sam Denniston told us how they’re looking forward to bringing their blues rock to Bestival: “We’re massively excited to play at Bestival. This year’s quite dancey,” he said, “but I’m looking forward to seeing Primal Scream and The Cure. Our bassist is also working with The Maccabees so I’ll probably go and see that too.”

Working with The Maccabees hasn’t hindered Ice Black Birds’ recording. Within the last few days the band have finished recording their debut album which is set for release in February 2012. Sam describes it as having an “old school, bluesy ‘60s/’70s sound, it’s quite low-fi. We literally finished recording on Friday; without wanting to sound arrogant, we really like it.”
