Mobile music from Blyk

Straight to your phone

Mike Skinner was quick to point out that ‘a grand don’t come for free’ but he was certainly speedy to sign up for Blyk – a new free mobile company that delivers music content offers from the likes of Mike straight to music fans.

Alongside him Lethal Bizzle, The Long Blondes and The Electrons are just some of the British talent to have teamed up with the UK’s first free mobile network Blyk to keep in touch with their fans in a new revolutionary way.

Exclusive content straight to your handsets

Such artists will invite their fans onto the Blyk mobile network to engage in immediate dialogue and send exclusive content straight to their handsets. It’s funded by you signing up for your interests and receiving texts and offers on these areas. Though no more than six per day; which is bearable for free contact with your pals.

As well as receiving updates on new releases, fans will get to see clips of music videos and interviews. The unique music programme combines the familiar “friending” of the likes of Myspace but with the direct and more usable format of mobile contact.

No slouches in the visual department, Blyk invited aspiring young creatives from London College of Communication (LCC) and Camberwell Art College to develop their image. Delighted with the highly thoughtful and creative pieces produced, Blyk has applied the students’ work to a range of marketing tools, from online animation videos to architectural collateral for Blyk-sponsored events and accessories plus limited edition clothing – some of which is up for grabs.

Lethal Bizzle, one of the first to launch his mobile community network is set to welcome his fans with individual messages as they arrive on the network and will follow with updates from his tour as well as new releases. In a first for the UK music industry Blyk will be supporting Lethal by sponsoring his forthcoming download single ‘The Come Up’ set for release on 17th December 2007. Lethal B expressed his opinion on the service;

“I’m really excited to widen my network of fans and keep in contact with them through Blyk mobile, my fans are so tech savvy that even social networking is old news to them! I can’t wait to release ‘The Come Up’ with Blyk too, it means I can reward my biggest fans by offering it to them first.”

In addition to the mobile communication service Blyk music artists will be teaming up to perform together at Blyk showcases and treat members to other unique performances including spoken word and comedy.
