...and rowing, rollerblading and mini-golf

Everyone enjoys a good summer festival but, let’s face it, they aren’t always the healthiest way to spend your time. Even if you manage to avoid contracting trenchfoot in a muddy field you could drink a month’s recommended intake of booze and wolf down countless gourmet burgers to soak it all up. Exercise? A bit of dancing maybe - that’s about the size of it.

One fest where you can rock up and stay fit, however, is T-Mobile INmusic, which takes place at the lovely Lake Jarun in Croatia in mid-June. Located just outside Zagreb city centre, Jarun is a proper leisure resort with an impressive array of activities that, this year, are available to festival-goers. Before mainlining on the music you can have a crack at - deep breath – handball, beach volleyball, soccer, rollerblading, cycling, surfing, rowing, horse riding, table tennis, bowling, mini golf and badminton, as well as making use of the skate park.

As for the music, they’ve managed to get the mighty Arcade Fire to headline, which is good going. The rest of the diverse bill also features The Streets, much-loved hip-hoppers Cypress Hill, Nick Cave’s Grinderman, cat-in-the-hat Jamiroquai, US art-rockers TV on the Radio, the legendary ex-Dead Kennedy Jello Biafra and Portugese afro-techno outfit Buraka Som Sistema, while there’s also an entertainingly mental metal line-up headed by Atlanta’s Mastodon.

Zagreb itself is a bit of an undiscovered treasure with some splendid architecture, bars and galleries, while the organisers are also offering trips to some of the local beauty spots: the Plitvice Lakes, the castles of Hrvatsko Zagorje, kayaking on Mrežnica river and cycling in the Samobor Hills.

You may come home feeling better than before you left. Now there’s a turn-up.

INmusic takes place at Lake Jarun, Zagreb on 21-22 June.
