Week three and we’ve got yet more electronic goodness on offer for all and sundry. This time it’s the turn of Luke Solomon: “longtime purveyor of left-of-centre oddball house” as some clever soul succinctly put it in a quote I’ve shamelessly just nicked.
Highlights of this fine piece of work include a brand-bloody-new unreleased exclusive from Luke himself – a marvellous bleep-house track, entitled ‘Ultrasound’, with a wonderfully hypnotic groove.
Also included is some lovely trippy tech house, in the form of a marvellous remix of Morgan’s Geist’s classic ‘Detroit’ (that’s correct fact fans, an alternative mix of this track was used in Booka Shade’s offering which launched the series but a couple o’ weeks ago), courtesy of Carl Craig.
The mix then finishes off in the best way possible via a track from that wonderful purveyor of all things dub-related, Deadbeat.
Luke has been involved in electronic tuneage – in one way or another – since the nineties, when he started spinning records at his student union, moving to working on live radio, then helping to set up a couple of record labels (including the incredibly highly regarded Classic), playing in various interesting projects and intriguing collaborations, and also producing a multitude of his own solo work.
Basically, the man knows his stuff, and it shows. Particularly in his seamless, spacey alt.house mix for us right here…
AND he worked as a fishmonger during his early DJing days. How many shit-hot house DJs can say that?
