With just a few hours until most of you go home, here’s a run down of what’s been getting the Clashmusic.com team all hot under the collar this week. From the latest releases, to oddball offcuts and re-issues, we get ‘em all. This is what’s been getting feet tapping:

Duffy – Syrup and Honey
The Welsh starlet hit Number One this week with her incredible single “Mercy”. We were there from the beginning, her Dusty Springfield whispers winning over the office from the start (read an exclusive interview here). Course, we’ve now got our greasy mitts on her debut album “Rockferry” and, predictably, it’s a stormer. “Syrup And Honey” is just one classic-in-waiting from the most soulful voice this side of Memphis.

Los Campesinos – 2007 The Year That Punk Broke (My Heart)
Both funny and clever, Los Campesinos are responsible for 2008’s best song title so far. We loved the demos, the early singles and the debut album is currently stuck fast to the office stereo. Final track “2007 The Year That Punk Broke (My Heart)” is a wonderful treatise on the UK music scene, set to an irresistibly jaunty rhythm. Expect an interview with these Welsh wonders next week, exclusively on Clashmusic.com.

Danny And The Champions Of The World – The Ghosts And Me
Featuring former members of Goldrush, Electric Soft Parade and Brakes this truly is a supergroup. Lead singer Danny Wilson wrote the anthems behind the sadly departed Grand Drive, and he is ably assisted by the champions, whose glorious harmonies are just the thing to dispel the early morning gloom. With a self-titled debut album due in April, Danny And The Champions Of The World are set to be favourites at this summers festivals.

Son Of Dave – Old Times Were Good Times
One man king of the blues. Real name Benjamin Darvill, his music blends delta blues with hip hop and surprisingly doesn’t fall flat on its face. Proving there’s more to the blues than merely waking up in the morning, parent album “03” is a hell-raisin’, soul-sellin’ solution to those Winter blues. ”Old Times Were Good Times” is the first single from the album, and epitomises Son Of Dave’s low down party aesthetic.

Human League – Things That Dreams Are Made Of
The opening track from the League’s breakthrough album “Dare”, this instrumental version is taken from Groove Armada’s “Late Night Tales” mix album. A brilliant blend of old and new, downbeat and up tempo, the album is one of the best mix album’s we’ve come across in a while. Any album that finds space for a Marvin Gaye and Tammi Terrell duet will find space on our stereo, and the Groove Armada guys follow that up with gem after gem. Out on March 10th, this comes highly recommended.
