ClashMusic DJ Mix Podcast - Buraka Som Sistema

A melting-pot of bass-heavy flavours
Buraka Som Sistema by Simon Frederik
Buraka Som Sistema serve up a melting-pot of bass-heavy flavours in this week’s Clash mix, proving that they’re still as forward-thinking and heavy as ever.

The Portugese pioneers were key in spreading the now-widely used kuduro style when their debut, ‘Black Diamond’, destroyed numerous dancefloors back in 2008. Since then, the band have also become renowned for their frenetic live shows.

Their hard-hitting Clash mix takes in ghetto-tech, bassline, hip hop, hedonistic club tracks, and plenty of Portuguese influence, with featured artists include Dirtybird Records’ Justin Martin, Nat Self’s Zombie Disco Squad, classic US techno DJ Joey Beltram, dubstep producer Caspa, and the Afrobeat-influenced Portuguese DJ collective, DZC Deejays.

‘Tira o Pe’, Buraka’s third single from their album ‘Komba’, is out now on Enchufada.
