The nation's music scene is built upon idiosyncrasy after idiosyncrasy, resulting in some wonderful - yet baffling - concoctions. Caravan Palace are the latest in this lineage, with the band somehow managing to fuse electro house with Gypsy swing.
Legendary guitarist Django Reinhardt is a huge influence, with his inventive jazz arrangements underpinning almost everything they do. Yet Caravan Palace also have an awareness of modern dance styles, with the band citing Daft Punk and Vitalic as main sources of inspiration.
Returning to the UK this summer, Caravan Palace will head towards the Secret Garden Party. As a special preview, the band have handed the new clip for their track 'Clash' over to us.
With a name like that we could hardly refuse, although the video itself definitely swayed the team. Crafted by Victor Haegelin the animated clip is beautiful, moving and profoundly French in a way we just can't place.
